E-Scooter & E-Bike Seizures |
||
Dear Resident
🚨 Windsor Police Crack Down on Illegal E-Scooters and E-Bikes 🚨 As part of a targeted operation to tackle the illegal use of electric scooters and bikes, the Windsor Neighbourhood Policing Team has seized four illegal e-scooters and made two arrests in a proactive effort to keep our streets safe. The operation focused on individuals using privately owned e-scooters and modified e-bikes on public roads—vehicles which are not road legal under current UK law. Officers also engaged with the community to raise awareness about the risks and legal implications of using these vehicles in public spaces. 🔹 The Law: In the UK, it is illegal to use a privately owned e-scooter on public roads, pavements, or cycle lanes. Only rental e-scooters operated under government-approved trial schemes are permitted in designated areas. Offenders risk fines, penalty points, and vehicle seizure. [gov.uk] This operation is part of an ongoing commitment to reduce anti-social behaviour and ensure public safety across Windsor and the wider Royal Borough. 📢 If you own an e-scooter or e-bike, make sure you understand the law before taking it out in public.
